Albert Park is a fast but a slippery circuit (because it is an urban circuit) especially during the first free practice sessions on Friday . Cars to cope with it have a lot of downforce . The circuit is high demand of braking and predicting brake ware is difficult considering the changing grip conditions over the week-end’s racing

Comparing 2009 – 2008 data we can easily figure the followings
 Top speed is slightly reduced despite aero cutting , probably because of engine less power ( 18.000 r.p.m. instead of 19.000 r.p.m. ) .
 Curve entry speed is slightly increased because of slick tyres .
 Braking conditions have become more challenging for 2009 as g forces under braking have increased by little .

the braking for the last curve is at .05 of difference, its interesting to see that the 09 cars are much faster at the corners and that the braking has improve significantly, it really makes you question the competitiveness of having KERS

Unfortunately i had a major PC failure and many of my files were lost forever , but i managed to overcome the problem and here i am .

Welcome back BAR.

Things have been getting tense around here. People are freaking out and yelling at each other, new users are signing up every day to talk about why Hamilton is better then Alonso, or when the other teams will start using R-Type Diffusor like BRAWN GP.

You are the rudder that will help steer this site back to where it needs to be, whether you know it or not.

Did you get your backup and redundancy issues all sorted? I have some hard drives of various capacaity I would send you for only shipping. One is a 200 gig, makes a great external backup drive, and I will gladly give it away for free (to you) as I truly appreciate what you do here.

One thing that I think Brundle mentioned last race was the potential for brake balance shifting due to KERS. Since KERS basically act as an engine brake on the rear axle by using the brake energy to charge the batteries, it provides some degree of brake power on the rear, which I guess will require more of the hydralic brake balance shift to the front axle. But since KERS has a energy storage limit, it is potentially possible that once the KERS is charged, that the motor stop taking the energy away from the axle and you end up with a bucket load of front brake. I wonder what that does if it happens going into a corner mid-braking....

Melbourne street circuit main characteristics :
Length Km : 5.303 m

Downforce Level: High
Tyre Compounds: Soft/hard
Time spent under braking per lap: 11%


Melbourne track is full of demanding braking zones where disc brakes suffer hard pressures and high ware, the surface is quite bumpy particularly in the braking zones and very slippery at the start of the race weekend as it is used as public roads , the surface of which is full of small debris . Nevertheless grip gradually increases during weekend as the track is rubberized.

The 2011 cars suffer significantly higher braking pressure compared to last season as they are equipped with the new DRS ( drag reduction system ) and boosted with extra energy from KERS comeback and thus being able to achieve significant higher top speed . Mc Laren even covered both the front and rear brake ducts with wire netting to prevent debris from entering inside the braking components , understanding the significance of steady and non fading out braking performance .
