Skoda was a joke not too long ago, now it is a respectable brand due to racing but more importantly Volkswagen build quality. Looks like Lada are doing the same with Renault, on road cars as well as racing, good luck to them.

I don't see that happening in near-ish future. Even if Renault make a properly significant effort to get Lada up to the modern day standards like VW did with Skoda, the difference in the end result will be as vast as in the business culture of Russia and Czech Rep. It would be better to switch to production of old Renaults and Dacias.

PS: and Skoda's 'not too long ago' was almost 20 years ago (owned by VW since 1991)!

Actually living in my cave here in Southern California I never heard of LADA :?
Fair play to all that posted becaude it sounds like it makes a Yugo (a POS that was sold here) seem like a Rolls.
At any rate that is funny. :D Having RBS on your car when they really took a hit was not.
Renault will still benefit from the sponsorship. They are a team I'm still holding out hope for F1 not losing!

Stretch Lada in Cuba

This is funny, since LADA 2101 is USSR built FIAT 124, while Samara has VW Golf based platform and Porsche developed engine. Almost idential situation as with Yugo which ex-Yugoslav car, mechanically identical to FIAT 127 with rejected FIAT UNO design.
