Cosworth DFV/DFX engine lower mount

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Cosworth DFV/DFX engine lower mount

Post

Hello,
Can anybody please tell me the diameter of the DFV/DFX engine lower(sump) mounting holes and tolerances. Are there any issues with the heat expansion? If yes can you please advise on what to be caution about. I think lower supporting bolts are spaced to 9" measured from the chassis (tub).
Many thanks.

Here's an installation drawing showing the lower forward attachment of a DFV engine. Two 13/32" diameter holes for 3/8" diameter fasteners spaced 9.0" apart.

There may be a CTE mismatch issue between the two lower attachments depending on the material your mating aft tub structure is constructed of. The upper blade-type attachments to the magnesium cam covers allow for some CTE mismatch in the vertical direction, while still providing good stiffness in the longitudinal direction.
