I'm surprised by the fast lap times. How much this sheer pace we're seeing is due to the resurfacing I guess?

I couldn't imagine these new wider heavier cars to be this quick!

Wider cars with wider tyres = lots more mechanical grip.

Vettel two tenths behind, not bad taking into account that Ferrari seems to improve during the weekend , so we could see a nice battle for the pole.
Vettel did the lap quite a bit later though (track evolution is big in Monaco).
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Vettel stated he's going to try and qualify right before the race to wait for maximum track evolution, in order to give him a chance at the pole time. Hamilton said he's going to swap cars with Button in order to give Vettel a fair chance.

Who had 55 m into FP2 for Stroll's first crash?

Mercedes slower than FP1, Ferrari(well... Vettel) quite fast in FP2.

I'd have picked FP1. What's the time on Max's first crash? I'd say Q2.

Looking at Max's driving i'd say there's a good chance of "redemption" this time.
