I'm not a fan of montoya, but just to put things straight in australia 2003 he said that what happened was his mistake, not the TC.

"We started on dry tyres and this was an excellent decision but then the safety car came out twice and just cancelled our advantage both times. Then when I finally got the lead again I went into turn one and simply went sideways when I picked up the throttle. It was absolutely my fault, but also the only mistake I made this weekend."

Didn't he also say in that interview that "--- happens"
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

When Montoya says its the TC i tend to believe him, He's well known for having an incredible ability to catch a car on the slide. Or at least its well documented in the stuff I read lol.

In Indy (or was it CART?) he was well documented for catching the heavier cars (with slicks) in slides, but an F1 machine is several hundred Kgs lighter and is therefore easier to throw away. Montoya has been on the end of a lot of contraversial mistakes which I don't remember him saying were his fault, although FLC says he addmitted to the Melbourne one, I thought hed blamed it on TC.
Montoya has never delivered what was expected of him and perhaps he shouldn't be with a team that really need the best drivers to make use of a sub standard car? Raikonen has had the measure of him for a while and I can't help thinking that a new guy like Paffet, Hamilton or even Piquet would be better in that car next year alongside Alonso.

If Renault are looking for two new driver next year perhaps they should invest in a couple of the GP2 stars. Hamilton is already a Mclaren future star but what about Premat? Frenchman, French team, thats the language barrier taken care of.

Principessa, is nice to see you cheering this hard. Adelante Alonso!

BTW, you are right, it must have been a really nice feeling, because to be in front of the king is to be in front of all spaniards. :)

C'mon, Tom, you put me in defensive mode... I think is the first time it happens to me.

It is hard to believe that Montoya has forgotten how to drive. He has never been the team underdog until he arrived to McLaren and Kimi. And no one is denying Kimi anything but he had to be "displaced" and was well entrenched.

The guy you think finds easy to throw away an F1 car broke the fastest lap in history record and was the only one that put some resistance to Ferrari in 2002. Having said that, you could be right. Maybe he has lost it, but Montoya doesn't characterize by hiding behind words. I find him more on the brusque side. You have to be suicidal in F1 to blame the mechanichs if it is your fault. If he says TC, TC it is until McLaren says otherwise. Even if, as your post proves, JPM is not doing himself any favors lately.

montoya came into the sport with alot of hype.. he did well for williams.. and made a big move for mclaren.. now i think he is just outpaced by super quick kimi and this made him look ordinary.. i still think he is one of the fastest drivers but still not up to alonso, kimi and shumies standard.. but suprisingly there is no news bout montoyas future.. maybe moving to mclaren hurt his credential..
