I happen to work with ship propulsors, and can tell you that you are VERY wrong my friend.. Spin a 5m diameter brass CP propeller at 1100 RPM and you'll find that your m70 10.9 hub bolts snaps like toothpicks..

"low speed" diesel is more like 100rpm, a lot of them are direct drive
