Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

One question bothers me in perticular. How does the engine cover come off?
It looks like it's in one piece with the rear wing. Ofcourse I could wait for Bahrain to find out but maybe you guys already have an idea?

I'm guessing they follow the same principle of the RB5, an example:

Thanks for the picture! Does the end of the dorsal fin fit in a slot in the wing or something? There must be something to keep it in place.

Sorry if this question has already been covered - but do all teams hide their rear diffusers on launch day?

The RB5 engine cover was connected with 3 bolts it seems, and the top plane of the rear wing was in 2 pieces.

The MP4-25 seems to be connected by 2 bolts on both sides of the rear wing at an angle.

I have a sneaky feeling that the McLaren has some new tripple decker diffuser! Although it is covered up - looks too big to be a double decker.

That makes me wonder wether they think the new car with the bodywork so tight by the looks of things, cooling may be a bit of an issue.

Are there any disadvantages to using the triple decker or is it just packaging and layout of components?
