No, you really do need glasses. The Red Bull may be a touch narrower in the airbox but the merc is tighter in the rear with a smaller air opening.

The winglets on the back of W07's hot air exits make it look a lot wider than it actually is. The rest of it (apart from around the plenum) is as slim as the RB12 without question.

Worth nothing Ric was clocked at 293 kmh coming out of the tunnel already in fp2, which is a massive 9 kmh more than any renault car managed last year in qualli, and 7 kmh more than in race conditions last year. That's some serious gains. Probably in the region of at least 50 bhp, possibly more (likely imo).

In fact there are several ex mercedes engineers working at Renault this year.
Not at least, it is in Mercedes interest that they are competitive.
If not, a new engine formula would be introduced, and is not what they want.

reading on twitter, Renault spent only 3 tokens for Monaco upgrade. they still have 21 left

From regulations; for 3 tokens they probably modified one (or more items, if allowed?) of the folowing
Ports, Piston crown, Combustion chamber, Valves geometry, timing, lift, injector nozzle, coils,spark plug

No way you can switch to Mahle system with only 3 tokens! Seems the Taffin interview was right and Renault still is not using Mahle. Source (Twitter link) for the 3 token?

I wonder if Renault have planned another step this season. They have talked about bringing half a second for the start of the season, and half a second at Canada, which was moved forward at least for 2 cars. Traffin has also said the 2017 will be another big step forward. It seems to imply no more upgrades this season, in which case the tokens are now irrelevant for Renault.

I wonder if they used a new qualifing mode for Ricciardo, almost 1s quicker than FP and first part of Q. And if they have, can they run it for more then 1 lap?

Why not? It is doable... Remember the seven token spend over the winter could have set the foundation for the TJI upgrade leaving just a few tiny mods to fully integrate it. We will never know.

there are lot of gossip about pre chamber stuff, what stun me is the fact its not in the rules, Cowell said No, Taffin said No and because Malhe works for years with Ferrari, their actual in devlopment Tji might be adapted to Ferrari F1 engine ?


Till a major top head of engine DEV from ferrari, Mercedes, Honda Renault doesn't comes out and details it,all of these is pure BS imaginated by somes judge dred or other vegetal journoyos plant rising around F1 world

That is F1, for example the seamless shift gearbox (anybody seen autogyro lately?) The seamless shift was never shown by the teams, because of so much patents on the technology.

Also the gps acceleration and fuel usage makes it clear some engines have a very efficient combustion.
