Lotus E20 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

So what was yesterday all about? Just showing off A Lotus rather than THE Lotus?

Rapidly translated text
Some of the differences with the R31 (with the car and presented yesterday):
[spoiler]

Different front suspension, the team has alas abandoned its stylish design and succumbed to the mode of suspension with independent steering arm ...

The hull of survival / monocoque / chassis looks different at its front end

The nose is presented yesterday plunging nose ran today is horizontal and its vertical fin clips seem different

Look at the mirrors of the E20, they are not only different but in addition they are joining the sidepods or the cockpit. in fact the cockpit and the sidepods appear to have changed in size ...

Another clue to differentiate the chassis: watch the white rectangle on the top right.

Two versions of nose.

#1 smooth, less stepped:

#2 stepped, more pronounced playpus or dolphin:

On this HQ photo there is bulge from suspension visible (right click)

I've also got the feeling, sidepods are tighter than in the launch photos.

The studio shots released by the team today are of the car that ran today. Fortunately!

@zgred,those three pictures are R31 with E20 body parts, it's easy to identify with the channel above the diffuser, very wide on R31 and thin (like a key hole) on E20.

You can clearly see the difference here on real E20: http://www.f1technical.net/gallery/Lotu ... io-sidepod

E20 - Hybrid R31

Rear bodywork looks a bit tighter indeed but these sidepods are still disapointing...
