By all means, feel free to be as kooky as you like! The silly argument is semantics. The actual issue is scale.

Actually, I like your earlier term, "air damn". If we define an "air damn" as a ridiculously small and incidental "air dam", then I will absolutely agree what we have here is an air damn!
