Ferrari F2013 (pre-launch speculation)

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

nice Marca sketch, but why do they point the exhausts inward towards the centerline of the diffuser/car?

From illustration it looks like what was the "acer duct" exit (which doesn't really look like it'll be ducting now" is arching down and attached to the floor. It looks like this will create a low pressure area behind the "duct" for the exhaust gases to follow down towards the floor. There could very well be some hot air exhaust ports on the inside of this "angled pillar" structure. I can't read Italian so I'm not sure what the illustration actually says. Off to a translator...

Bv. also that "Marca design" is illegal because any cross-section normal to the longitudinal axis of the car must gave a one continuous curve/line etc (look on the bottom of the exhaust ramp where touches the floor). Just sayin...

Bit more info:

So it's a combination of the year '13 with the last year of the V8s. All this speculation, all this expertise, not one person predicted that... ;)

Nice sidepods, i guess if they run that it´s now air-cooled instead ;)
I know it´s not the real car but that´s a bit too extreme of an undercut.

To get that much undercut in the sidepods there must be a penalty in a higher CoG.

Listening to Paddy Lowe on the flying lap talk about coanda exhausts you'd be hard pressed to believe teams would go to so much trouble to exploit what little it offers. IIRC it's only low-medium speed corners it has any benefit and at high speed it's just drag which is ironic given the DRS systems being developed.
