Lotus E22 Pre-launch Speculation

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

We are very satisfied with the development of our car which maybe will look a bit different than others.

That's what Mclaren said a few years back... And all they had was u-shaped sidepods, hardly worth getting excited about

Surely the above "looks a bit different" means things like the broom handle that Ecapox mentioned on Page 5 of this thread, and will not actually feature on the car after all?

#doinitright eh? Would have thought turning up to the first test would have been doing it right ;)

Anyway, nice to see a 2014 car, even if itdoesn't tell us much.

Only that the airbox intake seems to be larger if im not mistaken or that the img is badly taken.

Maybe this is a dumb observation but, does the right hand side (picture) seem to slope down but the middle section stays almost the same height?

yes, that seemed so from the earlier shot aswell

it's funny, lotus gets the most bashing and they're providing the most proof and pictures they actually have a car.

not like that I think,
it looks like there is a small ledge on the edge of the tub, at first parallel but then angling off slightly downwards, seen where the refelections and shadows are...

So theoretically they could participate at the first test if they wanted to.

The way they took the picture, I think that's where the cutout for the driver access cover (whatever it's called) begins. You may think it's a bad picture, but it is most definitely the work of a pro. The only thing it really shows is the shape of the engine air intake, and the colors (again). But better than nothing!

That air intake looks different to me too. It looks very oval/circular/elliptical while the R31/E20/E21 air box intake have a flat lower lip...
