The new Merc Y shaped front lower 'wishbone' reminds me of the FW-16 rear suspensions. But i'm not sure; did that Williams have an Y shaped upper arm at the rear, like the Merc, or was it just a normal triangle with a larger trailing part ? what do you think ?

holy cow. is that bronze circle on top a pivot? to set toe? does the toe change dynamically, or just for static adjustment? the boxed in structure looks very stiff, but the ends (and the middle pivot area) look like solid aluminum pieces. must weigh a ton.
i guess there was a bunch of stuff hanging off the back of the car, hence the need to make the DeDion tube go up n over.

Probably not.... But apart from 3 F1 teams (one of which has quickly reverted), can you think of any other examples of such peculiar front suspension geometry? (ducks head in anticipation).

I don't think anyone are doing anything peculiar with the suspension these days.

Save for the fact that Dynatune Paul suspects that some teams might be running suspension with positive camber gain (i.e. opposite to normal) in order to reduce the roll centre heights.

But thats got nothing to do with a pull rod.

Its been illegal to do anything peculiar to the suspension systems for quite a few years now.

I read somewhere (Peter Wright) that the active suspension was already a "plan B" to fix the issues with the full length ground effect chassis Lotus 80. It was rejected : too soon. "Plan A" was the twin-bodied Lotus 86 "Torrey Canyon" that lead to the Lotus 88.
