Now? They changed them?siskue2005 wrote:they have shorter gears now, they where touching 8th gear atleast 3 times per lap
Jeez they butchered that rear wing! look how much they cut off it! even whith removing the cascades, and this. they are still 15km down on the straights. cause they are geared way too short. but I suspect this is also cause they so down on engine powerstefan_ wrote:Bahrain 2014 - Friday (04.04.2014)

I believe the reason behind dumping the wastegate into the exhaust is to stop teams being able to 'blow' parts of the car with the blow-off.seinfeld wrote:Blackout wrote:Wastegate pipe is visible know while it was hidden in Melbourne and Sepang

If F1 wanted to. They could just dump that wastegate and not plumb it in to the single exhaust. that would improve the engine sound a huge amount. ive never been deafened almost. except when I raced a skyline with a external wastegate and dump pipe off it!

where is the wastegate pipe?
I think that it is actually the ballistic shield that teams are mandated to use to trap not hot air but the bits of the turbo from flying off in case of the catastrophic failure.JDC123 wrote:http://img2.auto-motor-und-sport.de/Red ... 769719.jpg
Why do teams have large covers around the power units? Are these to stop media and other teams from seeing how each unit and ancillaries is fitted within the chassis? I ask this because they look like they would act as a blanket around the power unit, trapping hot air from escaping as freely.
