F1 2014 Car Comparison Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

5.1.9 Engine exhaust gases may only exit the cylinder head through outlets outboard of the cylinder bore centre line and not from within the “V” centre.

That doesn't restrain from having the exhaust collector on top of cylinder heads.
That was already discussed. Think that was on 2014 engine yin yang thread. Not sure dough

mclaren vs redbull, pretty similar but difference in hot air outlet, mclarens sidepods are lower because their chassis is lower, the head protection gives it away

Any comparison shot of 2013 to 2014 wheel base? are cars shorter in length than last year?

Why does the Merc have a 2 step floor - no other car has it. And by that I mean the outside edges of the floor are lower than the rest of the floor whereas all other cars have a flat floor.

EDIT: And from a previous page. Red Bull & McLaren from a similar angle.

For clarity, all posts about Justin Bieber's noses, and all responses to them have been deleted.
They are wildly off-topic for a technical thread. There are other subforums (as off-topic chat) that can be used for fun (to some extent).

I know we can't read to much of the lap times made but, there are some points worth mentioning:
1- Mercedes engine car's seem pretty fast
2- Mercedes engine car's seem reliable

I'm stunned by:
1- The way Button was immediately fast on is 1st day (2nd of testing)
2- The Way Magnussen was immediately fast on is 1st day
3- The times of Mercs and Williams are also pretty fast, although not as fast as McL

Seems to me, that at this point, and stress this point, Mercs engines are superior and McL rear suspension is really worth some tenths.

Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure that aero will improve till the start of 1st race. And we do not have any info about how high on Revs they are going (except for the rumor from GA over the Mercs) and how much ERS they are using.

But...they do seem pretty fast!
