Honda Power Unit Hardware & Software

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Remember all that off throttle blowing was done with McLaren ecus, and if I recall McLaren were one of the first teams with the brrrap noise off throttle. I think they're ok.

When and where they use it is debatable but this is something that Honda is missing.
You mean as in a blown diffuser? That has less to do with the engine (just a bit of mapping, to run the engine off throttle) and more to do with the aerodynamics of the rear of the car.

What does hot and cold blowing imply in this context?

actually, teams might be using cold blowing MGU-H during breaking and get some free electricity.

Not necessary. Much more efficient to generate using the piston engine driving the MGUK.
If you're time limited under braking you'll take what you can get I'd imagine. There's only so much your K will be able to capture.

But no limit on what the H can capture.

The sector time data the teams have is different from that supplied to the TV viewing masses via FOM's world feed.

As well as the 3 official FOM sectors and the speed trap joe public sees, the F1 teams have "sector" times once every 200m all the way round each track.
With this they can measure things like the acceleration at various points along a straight (eg. Spa/Kemmel) for each car, for each lap. There will be databases of this for every competitor going back years.
The teams can tell the average speed in each corner using the granular sector data, and use that to calculate apex speeds and with information from their own data on tyres, can establish fairly accurate extrapolations of their competitor's downforce numbers, drag numbers and so on.

They've been doing this sort of stuff for a long time and are very good at it.

The big teams are all data-driven. They know what they are competing against.
be nice to be able to have this data!!!!!

He was losing ground because of fuel saving not tyres. After he got lapped, he must have turned up the engine to build up the gap to Perez that brought him alongside VES. Looked terrific...cant wait to see what they do next year without restrictions.

That's Nico Hulkenberg's number. Force India with Honda engines?

Is it not more likely that Autosport's art department have got a little carried away?

Nico Hulkenberg's got a deal with Force India until 2019, and Force India have a deal with Mercedes until 2020.
