Cool... Looks like it is going to be close between JJR and Mantium Ray... One has a slight edge in the corners, the other on the straights...

Considering that it was the most difficult race for me, because I could not develop the car after the 2nd race, I'm very happy with the results! I'm very confident about the last two races. It seems that Mantium optimization worked perfectly. JJR is always at the top (also considering the 2014 KVRC): congratulations!.
Variante had problems with the virtual wind tunnel, but, if he will find a solution, he could fight for the first place in the next races.
Kineuton, Talno and TF are improving their performance race after race. I'm quite sure that TF could have reached the podium adding small winglets in the front axle area, but in the next race it will be among the best teams.

Yes, it does look very close. Last race I had a 0.004s gap to CAEdevice.
Lets see if we can get the gap even smaller (preferably with me in front).

My car looks fast in a straight line but a dog in the corners :D

What should I say? ;)

Rather happy with the results until now. My numbers were a bit higher than in my private runs. I didn't expect any good cornering speeds, but I'm rather amazed with that top Speed.. It's a start. :)

I missed this link when you posted it originally... Very interesting! This is exactly the sort of analysis (similar to Variante's and others personal topics on here as well) that I hoped we would see when the KVRC first started.

Keep it up!

Well done to everyone who entered.

Round 4 is August 6 - no points will be awarded for this round. How is everyone getting on with the new rules?

Well done to JJR, Mantium and Variante!

CAEdevice still fourth , but I am satisfied considering that the first three designers would be worthy of working in a F1 (or WEC) team :)
Anyway: I'm still looking to get one (or two ;) ) victories during this season.

cdsavage : everything is ok with the new rules. It will be useful to use the next race as a general test . Wich will be the procedures for verification / resubmission and penalties ?

Since no points will be awarded, the process for round 4 will be simplified. The first submission will go through the normal checks, but if it isn't legal, there won't be a second submission - the entry will just be marked as 'not legal' in the final results. We will obviously go back to the normal procedure for round 5 and 6 - these are normal rounds.

Yes, well done JJR.

What happened with the cool TF car? It has a good aero efficiency but gave away some positions with that penalty.

Out of interest Chris, are the COP numbers the "actual" or "KVRC corrected" figures?

Nice results. So close for P1! Clearly Mantium optimization techniques did show off. I wonder how would my car have perfromed if I had such skills. It would be an interesting subject to see how two very different design philosophies (Variante/Matium vs TF) compare in terms of absolute performance, once fully optimized.

Regarding my own results I made a stupid mistake on my second submission and put different rearview mirrors, so I got penalized. Without the penalty my main problem is CoP position. As CAEdevice said, more front DF would solve the problem, but is not as easy without front wing, and there is not enought room for winglets. I am studying different options to correct this before having to use a front wing (I really don't want to do this from a "philosophycal" point of view). At some point I'm thinking about publishing some sort of report explaining the whys and hows of the design.

Next race will be very interesting, with no points we should see some extreme designs.

P.D. Now "naked" pictures of the top teams this time??

Hi everybody, as I announced after the second race, I prepared a surprise for the 4th race... even if I don't think it could race!
I tried to design someting rule compliant, moving the engine template in front of the footbox template, and moving the cockpit rearwards. The base was my "regular" MP003, the version used during the 2nd and the 3rd race. The Panoz Spyder inspired me too.

What do you thing about?

Image

Yes, I know I would had better to spned my time improving the "official" project, but I need to refresh my ideas :)

Here are some numbers:

DR: 1950N
DF: 6800N (I've run only two test to optimize it)
COP: 1.5m

The modified template (the part of the engine template that joins the engine to the airscope has been cutted):
