Re: The Porsche 917 thread

Found the name of the book I have (still need to read it): The Fabulous Porsche 917, by Peter Hinsdale.

Quite a few detailed drawings and a side view of every version (12!) of the 917!

A little off topic, but not by too much: a video of a 906 (street-legal mind you :-D)

The forgotten one, Jo Siffert driving the 1971 CanAm 917-10 Spyder atmo car;

Yes, a very nice looking car. A mix of the 908-917-917/10! :)

As promised, here are few illustrations of the different 917 versions:

The book is from 1972 so missing the 917/30!

Are you sure those images are to scale Matt?

Anyway, the 1969 917 PA, also driven by Siffert in CanAm, must have been a handful, but note the rear bodywork;

I did not resize them, so unless the author has not drawn them to scale, I think they are. The wheels look to be the same diameter. What makes you think they aren't?

Nice CanAm car tho, probably Porsche just testing the water there before launching their 917/10! :)

I don't know, I just get the impression of a very short wheelbase.

The 917 PA was there already in 1969 with the original 4.5, it disappeared in 1970 and resurfaced in 1971 as 917/10 5.0 atmo.

Not sure if relevant, but I think it's a beauty. I sometimes see the owner drive this thing in the neighbourhood.

Wow, very nice! Love the colour!

To keep going, check that 917 chassis. Awesome work!
