Scuderia Ferrari SF15-T

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

So it seems they have mp4-30 (and F138) style "floating gearbox"... not many shots of the SF15-T in this area

Most cars since 2010 have had a raised gearbox.

Gearbox isn't suspended or "floating", rather the rear floor/diffuser is cantilevered.

Yes the Ferrari has louvers turning the airflow inside the rad duct and also these shutters on top of the rads to do the same. Clever!

Looks improved, maybe a blind spot in reg. ? They try to gain a little df with this "exhaust gurney"? Or just a cover, there are legs behind, the car still standing. :wtf:

That "bulk" on top of radiator suggests Ferrari are conservative with bodywork and instead wants more cooling. They could shrink bodywork and increase airflow to rear end of the car. Clever indeed!
There are good development steps to take for Ferrari throwout season.

The possibility exists that having less restricted internal flow has a net gain on aero performance, shrinking the bodywork might just introduce more drag. I'm sure the chaps with the CFD and wind tunnel data know what they are doing.

Ferrari SF15-T - latest front wing

Image

Like Mercedes, the Italian team have been asked to replace the arched camera mounting (inset) with a more linear support. On top of this, all of the wing’s major components are different, including the main plane, the additional small fins on the outside of the endplates, the upper flaps and the single vertical fin (in black).

Footage of a couple of laps from FP2 on medium compound so those have to be some kind of race sim with good fuel load

LAP 1:
- A couple of errors from seb is making it look bad but you can still see a general overall improvement over F14-T

LAP 2:
- Good overall balance inserting into the corners as Seb is able to place the wheels confidently where he wants
- Very good and smooth power delivery from the PU
- Greatly improved drivability out of slow speed corners due to better traction compared to last year
- Interesting straigthline top speed
- Maybe still laking a bit of downforce in medium-high speed situations

(Very bad image quality, not my fault as video is on youtube)

Almost everyone brought some upgrades to the car except Ferrari. This is basically the same car we saw in testing and it's competing for the 2nd best car. That's a big improvement straight out of the box =D>

It should give them more engine power when the car is moving fast. There will be a lower turbine exhaust pressure at speed with that gurney, hence greater pressure ratio across the turbine hence more power from the turbine.
For Sure!!
