Sainz just went 26.081 in a TR. That is quite an interesting first stint for a new driver. Red Bull's hidden-in-plain-sight strength is it's driver pool.

Wow, 12 laps with a gently increasing lap time then 12 laps with a very consistent lap time. That suggests this car is very easy on its tyres if they want it to be.

is it possible that they use a late ignition timing in a cylinder in order to use that cylinder only as a gas-generator to feed the turbine with less-exhausted gases?

no way ...miss fire mean that less power ...and broked turbo......exhaust ....very soon ......
I agree with you, misfire means less power from the ICE and a serious strain on the components, but what is the efficiency of the gas generating cylinder+turbine+mguH+mguK? isn't a turbine more efficient than a reciprocating engine?
Maybe mine was just a silly idea, but I was just trying to extract something meaningful from those runs :)

you fail to understand what testing and installing an engine means #-o
if you expect Mclaren to just go ahead and fly around the track you seriously don't know squad about F1 nor engine technology. Go ahead and check out last year's testing, take Mercedes for example. 'Broke down' after a couple of
corners. Wanna know where the Merc engine ended? ah yes, win win win and win. Did i say win?

If any, this is a good sign, showing they complete several laps, compared to the struggle of last years manufacturers.
this is actually Honda's 'first' real test.

It sounds exactly to what they're doing; making the engine run in several testing modes to discover the wear, the load,
the effects, and how to correlate simulation data to real life data without blowing the engine up. Trying various engine maps to see how they can make the turbo respond at the best way possible, combined with the energy recovery systems.
Checking how all electronics behave to the total package, how the fuels, oils, and fluids respond to the movements.

It's actually all good.

So far I find it very encouraging for McLaren. There's a long way to go and many questions to answer but, fingers crossed, the car hasn't blown up or caught fire or stopped on track. If they want to do slow installation laps for the whole of this first test I'd be a happy man!

Confermati problemi elettrici per la #Ferrari, problemi di temperature per la #McLaren.

Wohoo, a new season has begun!
I'm not worried about Mclaren-Hondas performance, they'll get it sorted come the first race...
I really like the sound on the videos filmed by spectators, it's loud and growly, must be nice to hear them live.

It was sensor problem for Ferrari ( reported via AMuS), and there is nothing about McLaren.

The engines have always sounded much better on every medium but the TV broadcast :(

Vettel is out on the track with the Ferrari just now. So the sensor problem seems to be solved. AMuS live: http://ams.to/f1live
