A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

New FW endplates.

Engine cover a bit chubbier, might slim down on the race version.

From this angle, it's possible to make some comparisons with RB11:

Red Bull's coke bottle seems tighter and it's nose seems to feed more air towards that area

But the undercut area if very very interesting in that W06

I don't know how it was with the W05, but the steering rods with the W06 are just in front of the lower wishbone.

edit: I see the W05 had them at the upper wishbone

It also looks like the W06 is the only one of the works teams without blown front wheel nuts. Looking at the on/off lotus and ferrari had in the past with his system, it looks to me to be a bit of vapor wear development. In theorie it should work, but getting it to work is more difficult.

Hard to differentiate from those pictures. Merc seems quite on par with the RB on coke bottle space imo. Need some good aerial shots.

Mercedes AMG F1 W06

Post

This is the official Mercedes AMG F1 W06 car topic. Any discussion about the technical aspects of the car belong here.

Some ground rules:
-Discussion about the car ONLY. Talk about drivers or engineers belongs in the team thread.
-Discussion about sponsors, partnes and livery also belong in the team thread. However, if a technical partner delivers a product that directly goes into the car, then that is allowed here as long it's solely about the car. For instance Shell developing a new lubricant.
-Comparing laptimes belongs in the respective race or test thread.
-Speculation is NOT allowed. Discussion is limited purely to "what you can touch and see", about the psysical parts on the car.
-Moderators can split topics when they see fit.

Any posts failing these simple guidelines will be removed! Repeating offenders will receive action.
