Renault Sport F1 R.S.17

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looking at the sharkfin here I would think that they would install a T wing in the same manner that Ferrari has.

And looking at the part number 3 on the bargeboard here, I think Renault might be planning to add "Aldo Costa moustaches" above them, on the nose, and that the part number 3 has no purely aerodynamik role but is also designed to hide the upcoming moustaches (when the car is seen from below, as the rules request)

In fact, the 2007 R27 was the first car to use those wings, not the Ferrari 2008, AFAIR
Ans as you see, the R27 bargeboard has a similar "part nr3" just below the "moustaches", in their shadow...
Just a guess. Im probably wrong

That marks the very first time I've appreciated the muffled sound of the engine, because, with the return of proper aero, you can now actually hear air flow over the car.

I have just fallen in love!

The rake, the attitude, the aggression. Everything has a purpose and how the stance interacts with the track, this car is one that will be fast I'm sure. Loving the contact patch of the tyres.

I am trying not to be biased... but oh my what a beautiful car. Really hope it will be fast when they crank it up and do some quick laps.

What I can say at the moment is that they have worked their asses off and ditched the RS16 early in the last season to concentrate on this car. Although efforts have been put to it, bare in mind that a lot of people joined the team as the design and development of the RS17 was taking place, so they were joining as things happened. That's why there is a chance that a lot of great ideas will not work once they are put on the car.

Yes IMHO this car is the tidiest, the finest and the most 'up to date' car Enstone has produced since a long time...
Yeah it's not as detailled as the top cars (Merc, Fer) yet, and that's normal; the top teams have probably started their 2017 project much earlier; around august 2015 like Bell assumed, while the Renault 2017 project was born in January 2016... when Enstone had only 470 people...
The have aligned the steering arms with the upper wishbone for example. Nothing new nor revolutionary but it shows they tried to tidy up every aspect...
