Red Bull RB19

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Where the tunnels start near the chassis, reminds me of how wings connect to fuselages of planes. Quite rounded and bulky but getting thinner as they move along the chord of the wing.

I am guessing these are not shots of the rumoured RB20 floor they have brought to test out.

You think they are generating a vortex?

Seems to have a clear twist there doesn't it. I've noted before about (I know there's very defined rules on this exit) that it appears very tight and without any "flare" at all right at the edge rim periphery.

Thought before that it may focus on further projection of exhaust energy (along the lines of a jet thrust aperture modulation for full takeoff thrust) to "pull" the rear wing departing flow more effectively into detachment.

Good spot on the exhaust.
They are flow straighteners or twisters.

The diffuser is extremely detailed on the corners and in general.
These guys are designing guided by some manner of isosurface it seems. As to what kind of isosurface they are focusing on who knows?
For Sure!!

This is the floor experiments right?

Don't think so. The same features can be seen on other shots of the diffuser run since Barcelona. For instance the flow visualization pictures of Suzuka show the same creases and details exist. They're just not visible in most photos of this area
