Unfortunetly. If is real, is certanly will come to Ferrari and not AM.

I don't think it's as clear cut, Ferrari has the prestige, Hamilton and the pocketbook - Lawrence can match the pay, has Alonso, they've poached people who know how RB works/have worked with Newey and most importantly they're based in the UK. Location is a great bargaining chip Aston can make use of against Ferrari. The chances are slim sure but its there.
I can’t see Newey wanting to step into Aston’s driver’s situation, however.

I think, like Hamilton the biggest motive is "Ferrari is Ferrari". But, we'll wait. Maybe, but, i think 99% move to Ferrari.

Agreed. Newey would definitely want a say in the driver situation and that is a big negative point for Aston currently.

Newey strikes me as one of those “I have enough money now, I’ll just do what is rewarding to me”, but you never know

Newey left Williams because he wanted some say in drivers and all aspects of the team. Horner and Red Bull gave him that. Stroll Senior has the power to grant Newey this. Ferrari does not. Newey would be the one thing that would convince Stroll Sr. to give up on Lance's F1 ambitions.

May be that's the reason, AM is still waiting to formally announce Lance's contract extension.
Chances of Newey joining AM are blick but Lance's sacrifice totally worth it. With that, Lawrence can think of better valuation of the team and start offloading stakes.

Stroll said everything he does in F1 is for his son to win
His son will never be replaced as long as stroll owns the team

We can see that the closest tracks to Miami are Bahrain and Shanghai. It's a low deg track based on below from 2023 and the tires have gotten harder from last year.

Suzuka, Jeddah and Australia are much further.

The question to ask is : is there any track where the AMR24 is or can be strong ?

Dan Fallows indicated at the AMR24 presentation that the end of 2023 season was testing and compared to the AMR23 the AMR24 will be stronger in any type of circuit. 5 races later the result proved him wrong and we are 9th and 10th as Alonso keep saying.

In Miami with McLaren and Merc are bringing their first big upgrades, Aston will be in no man's land.
Track surface has alot to do with deg. More than the corner speeds.... From this it was a low deg track in 2023 and the tires has gotten harder since.

Agreed; I think it was from Peter Windsor but there was an anecdote about Newey and how Ferrari tried to poach him sometime during the Montezemelo era. They were prepared to give give him everything but when Newey went to visit Ferrari just sent some regular staff member to do the negotiation which he found dismissive and made the whole thing basically dead in the water. I don't think money from Stroll would be enough to convince him. Plus I'm not sure what his relationship is with Whitmarsh after his McLaren stint.

I think that location is not a deal breaker, with the improvements in remote working nowadays it would probably be fine at AM or Ferrari. Ferrari already has Byrne working from Thailand so even if Newey wanted to be based in S. Africa I think either team would be accommodating. Maybe Newey would be interested in more Valkyrie-type work at Aston, that could be a plus. Especially with the upcoming WEC foray. But I would probably be surprised if he doesn't end up in red.

Adrian, if you are reading this, come to Aston Martin in the name of all gods and help Alonso to win his deserved 3rd title.
Beg you

I mean on a technicality it is quicker. Unfortunately it’s only over 1 lap pace

Well, this news came not long after it was known that Stroll made him a big offer, there was no clear info about Ferrari.

No, there was concrete news about Ferrari having approached Newey previously as well. AM making an offer was after that. Probably once they also learned that he's open to moving, AM made an offer.

Lauda and Brawn literally dragged Hamilton to Merc in 2013. I always thought Lewis moving to Ferrari could indicate something was in the pipeline for them. I just assumed it was because they're doing well on the '26 PU. Liberty would do anything to get Lewis another title. Hes the biggest draw in the U.S market and thats priority number 1, 2 and 3 for Liberty right now.

Newey to AMR isn't happening, I wouldn't get your hopes up. RBR, Ferrari and Merc failing to offer Alonso a seat for 2026 was enough of a blow already :D
