Alpine A524

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I heard Alpine brought a lower downforce rear wing for FP3. Any images of that?

Alpine is bringing a "new" (more like a track specific) rear wing this weekend.

Apparently an actual upgrade is planned too, centered around a new front wing (which also brings a welcome weight saving)

So far even with the same team
The shape of the front wing is different.

Interesting. I wonder if mass savings have been realised by having a greater portion of the aerodynamic loading towards the FW-nose mounting points -> hence reduced moment to resist for same net aero load, allowing a less extensive structure to resist this moment (in turn lighter)... I'm sure the reasons for (and potential gains from) this wing are primarily aero though.

So both front wing options available (might be due to a shortage of parts more than a setup choice at this point of the season) and a new floor for Ocon's car. Let's see what it brings to the party.
Ocon reached Q2 twice already, with 3 tenths better he could have started the race somewhere around P12 where you have a reasonable shot at points if something happens in the top 5 teams.

According to french journalists from Canal+, the A524 is now under weight limit with latest evolutions. Let's see !

Edit: So they corrected in SQ1, they reduced by 3,6kg with the latest changes and are still 1kg above the limit, they will be under for Miami
Edit again : New floor needed a new chassis revision to be fitted on Ocon's car.
