Aston Martin AMR24

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Back in 2022... undercut looks similar

Yes but it's outwashing, as in: the ramps feeds the top of the diffuser, the undercut feeds the side cut, while in 2022 it fed the top

The front suspension has been arched (even further)

Rear wing design very similar to that brought by McLaren at Zandvoort in 2023
Just looks like a slightly higher DF version of what they brought towards the end of last year. Pic from 2023

Unless it is a perspective/lighting issue, waterslides look different from the renders. It starts further back

Seems t be pretty aggressive anti dive front suspension. Will be interesting to see compared to the other big teams

Looks agressive and a clear evolution of AMR23. Tighter bodywork, bigger undercut, less disruptive suspension geometry.

Would be interesting to compare with the top 4 cars releasing in the next couple of days.

Looking at the front wing (having this article still in mind: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/asto ... /10505637/) 2 pivots from the 3rd to the 2nd highest front flaps are back (red arrow in the motorsport.com article).

Motorsport italia:
The innovative concept that Ferrari had already introduced with good results on the SF-70 in 2017 has been taken to extremes. To speak simply of a tray is limiting because the lip has the profile of a wing and, as on aircraft, has a side bulkhead that serves to control leaks, while the upper intake mouth has been decidedly set back, to also take advantage of the rear-view mirror support as a useful air conveyor for the down wash. The rear-view mirror rests on the tray, just as it did on the Mercedes W13 and initially on the W14 when the wing profile was detached from the belly. Here the concept is completely different...

Is just a render photo, they just post a shot video and there they use different rear wing. At middle of rear wing where the DRS a V outcut.

The front cross section of the side air inlets is approaching zero here

That sidepod opening looks mightily impressive. I wonder if they will change the lip to meet track specific cooling requirements.
