Tyre allocation: 12 sets (2 Hard, 4 Medium and 6 Soft)

Two qualifying sessions with only 6 sets of softs. Interesting.
Regardless of what tyres are used on Friday and Saturday, if two H tyres (C2) are not available for Sunday, the race is a write-off. Assuming no rain on Sunday.

rules:

sprint Q1: 1x new medium
sprint Q2: 1x new medium
sprint Q3: 1x soft

tyre strategy(?):

FP1: medium or hard (handed back after FP1) - soft (optional - for Q prep)
sprint: medium
Q: 4-5 softs
race: medium - hard - medium or hard

In this scenario either in the sprint or in the race one scrubbed set of mediums must be used.

Question is if teams want to set up the car in FP1 with the medium or hard tyre, most probably medium (so they have 2 sets of medium and hards each at race day).

going by the current forecast, it could very well be dry again for the sprint. "Wet conditions likely in the early morning" really means "early morning" in this case, so a couple of hours before the start.

Albert Fabraga made a trackwalk.

have only been "painted" with tar or bitumen." #-o

“You go about your racing not really thinking about it, if I'm totally honest.

“Obviously, it's there, but the moment that you start to think about the lack of parts, or the lack of whatever, you might as well stay home.

“You have got to attack the weekend like you do any other weekend. You can't treat it any differently. You've got to be on the limit to feel what the limit is, and you've got to get a balance for the car.

“It’s one of those ones where you do have to kind of part block your brain and just go about racing as normal.”

Albon had nothing but praise for the way in which Williams had worked to get both cars fitted with as many new parts as possible.

“It's been a tremendous effort,” he said. “Obviously, we've been on the backfoot with the crashes, and it is no secret that we were already on the back foot before the crashes.

“So it's another mighty job as always, and we have to rely on the staff back at Grove to pull things together – as they continuously do so."

“And it is very, very important, especially coming into a sprint race as well, with all the possibilities of whatever can happen this weekend, you kind of want to be as best prepared as possible.

“Races like this, where it's so unknown, are an opportunity for teams like us.”

Saudi 2021 and Las Vagas 2023 were both new asphalt and were not a problem. Miami in 2022 had some other issues which led them to relay for 2023, and was not a problem.

Saudi 2021 they did some pressure washing to age the asphalt after the alarm of Turkey 2020 and 2021, but maybe this might be a bit overblown by commentators who look for some -ve in human right races.

Appparently this new "tar paint" treatment was done months ago so this just seems like overblown paranoia

Do we have one of these for this race yet?

Pirelli releases those on race day, so we only have the one from 2019:
Thank you! I can never find them but I guess they post them on x or their website
