Best F1 high-res photo find ever!!!

Post

Each link below is just url of first photo in the set. To go to next photo change manually numbers after "diapo". Most of the sets are historical apart from one showing inside of Toyota F1 factory. I haven't counted but I reckon there's at least 200 high resolution photos in these sets. It's a must for people who like F1 history, there are special sets about Ferrari history, Renault history, tributes to many famous drivers etc.

Enjoy 8)

Why not? Linking publicly available photos isn't a crime. I found them using Google image search. I didn't steal them and I didn't hack to get them. If a Google can find image and show it why can't I show link to that image?

If webmaster on site were they are located wanted to make them not accessible, not remote linkable and most of all not indexable by Google he would have certainly done so which isn't the case with these photos.

See for yourself, they are all over the web because they are remotely linkable, indexable and naturally accessible. http://images.google.com/images?svnum=1 ... tnG=Search

Almost whenever you search for large f1 photos Google shows among results photos from that site that has no main page - when you go to http://photos.racing-live.com/ it says File not found. .

Just thought I would save you all some time and I have made a spreadsheet up that creates all variations on the links that MC has supplied. Some of the links will not point to anything but the ones asociated with the photos should work ok.

I have created this on OpenOffice and saved it as an Excel 97, 2000,XP worksheet. Please let me know if it doesn't work for you and I will also post the original OpenOffice Doc.

Does anyone know the story behind this picture? I don't recongnize the helmet; it looks like a promotional event.
Thanks in advance.

That's Jackie Stewart driving a Tyrell with wha appears to be maximum antilock on. Not his usual driving style so maybe it was a promotional event.

C'mon, guys, you can download all photos with a couple of clicks, if you use Opera (have I already recommended it?).

1. Download Opera http://www.opera.com
2. Start Opera, open this thread and click on this link:

http://ciropabon.googlepages.com/Photos.zip

3. Save and uncompress the file in some directory. It has a lot of files. Create a sub-directory there named "200404" (for example).

4. In Opera, use the menu Tool/Preferences and click on the tab "Advanced" and the on "Downloads", in the list to the left: navigate to the directory you created and then choose the sub-directory "200404" as your download folder.

Image

4. Use File/Open in Opera to open the "first file" of the uncompressed files, named "Photo_links.htm". Click in the "Links" button in Opera (to the left of the screen).

NOTE: If you don't see the buttons to the left, use the menu View/Toolbars and check "Panels". If you still don't see the button "Links", right click on the panel to the left and choose "Customize". Then check on "Links", like this.

Image

5. You'll see the list of photos in a panel to the left. Right-click on the first photo of the list, move to the last one, shift-click on it to select all the photos. Then right-click on the selected photos and pick "Save to download folder". Voilá.

Image

Opera will open a new window where you can check the progress of the download, like this one:

Image

Here you can stop the download (and resume it later) if you wish. The screen is self-explanatory.

Once you are finished with the first "set" of photos, go to step 3 and create a new subdirectory for the next set, for example 200405 (unfortunately, the photos have the same name, for example "diapo_101", so if you continue your download, you will erase the first set).

Repeat the process, clicking on the panel to the left to open the next set, for example 200405.

Image

This works with ANY PAGE on the Net. If you open a page with thumbnails, do the same: you'll download all the photos you wish with a couple of clicks. I tend to post long posts (this one took me more time than the 5 minutes I invested in "adapting" the worksheet woody created, thanks woody, and starting the download) so I don't have time to lose using IE or FF. I know you can do something similar with FF, but it's complicated and nobody I know uses it. If you do, you can use the zip file I gave in the first link (I'm not sure if FF supports worksheets converted with cascading style sheets, try and tell me).

Now that you have Opera you can check your mail from your browser, use RSS, put the browser to read the news, read torrents and a thousand little things that will save you a lot of time. Have I already recommended Opera? ;)
