He has done 9laps according to live timing. Can't be something serious. He is just now doing a lap with funny exhaust sound.

Don't take the times too seriously, a quick look shows de la rosa in 6:th place, and they are not expected to be up there. So my guess is a combination of not really focusing on quick times and contaminating the tires on the early dusty track.

Also, some of them run on a "cruise" mode. They try to maintain a regular pace to allow monitoring of aero updates. One of the teams was talking about it on the radio in FP1.

Before the test ban, they only used FP to configure the cars for the track. Now they have to do comparative tests of components and try to get some sort of controlled conditions for comparative data.

For example, maybe Button (4th) had a new floor compared to Hamilton on the old floor (18th). Or maybe Hamilton had the new floor and it doesn't work. Or maybe they were on the same kit and Hamilton had a full tank of fuel... or simply had a bad night sleep. Who knows?

we saw this with Schumacher and Rosberg in FP1 in hockenheim...maybe they just evaluate a setup option that is not quickly changed back...and so you have to live with it...and don´t waste laps with it when your collegue clearly shows which is better

Turns 8 & 9 are medium speed corners, the Renault and Ferrari will be very strong there. The rest of the lap consists of braking while turning, and low speed sweeping turns, Mclaren will do well there.

Well, it seems Mclaren are a little bit lost by now, they're failed blown diffuser is hurting them, a lot!

Ferrari run without F-duct and Mercedes have gone back to the Silverstone floor. McLaren have a very stiff front wing and Ferrari are apparently undecided which wing to use. Force India have gone back to high exhausts. Apparently problems with the blown diffusor.
