Hi auto saibot,

Thanks for your nice comments, and I'm pleased that you are enjoying the photos.

If any of this forums readers would like to see the car up close, its just been confirmed that its going to be displayed at the Racecar Engineering Magazine's stand at the Autosport show at the NEC next month. I plan to go one of the days, probably Sunday. Be great to meet some of all the F1tecnical forum members who have left supporting, helpful and inspiring messages on this thread. Please keep'em coming!

Does this mean an upcoming feature in Racecar Engineering? They've had current hillclimb cars in the wind tunnel, but no F1 cars since the late 90s Benetton. They could fill the whole magazine with a tech article on your car...

Id love to come allong and take some photos, especially as im getting a new chamera for my Christmas pressie, and also meet some fellow F1T forum-mates, and posibly have a "F1T Working Group" meeting as well. Whitch would turn out into being a massive discussion i guess.

Ill check if that is my weekend off work and see if i can get a ticket and a train down.

£11 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers gets you a ticket to Autosport International. It's the cheapest I've seen.

Hi F1Snake,
I have just joined the forum and been watching for some time as I am impressed with the RA107 and the colour scheme for the RA108 is my own favourite. I will be going to the Autosport show and will look in on your car as it deserves the footfall.
I have built up my own BAR003 over the last three years from a used JV chassis so understand how hard it is to source the "right" parts. Keep up the photos as they are great and its not often you get to see in detail the various parts of what I would call a work of art.
all the best

Hi Showcar,

Many thanks fo your very nice comments. You should start your own forum thread on your build up of the BAR 003, as people here will be very interested to see what you've been up to. I certainly would.

Hi andylaurence,

Be really cool if Racecar Engineering mag would do something on the RA107, I'll ask if they would be intersted when I meet the editors at the Autosport show. They've put up a little pre-view on their site: http://www.racecar-engineering.com/news ... ring-show/ I notice they've chosen to use that Viper engine joke pic. Just hope people dont think I was seriously considering putting that big lump in!

As mentioned before, be really nice to meet up with fellow F1T forum users at the Autosport show. I will aim to hang around the Race Car Engineering stand on the Sunday, around midday. I hope that some forum members will be able to make it.

Just clocked this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-JORDA ... 296wt_1395 On Ebay.

Whilst it's a long way out of my price range, I thought it worth mentioning on here in case anyone fancied joining F1 Snake on the grid, so to speak.

*I'm in no way affiliated with this sale, just saw it and thought i'd pass it on.

Re: New member - Bought an RA107

Scarbs had that on his Twitter feed the other day there.

If i had the money and the space, id be jumping on it, even tho its a chassis from 2001 its still one of the more modren ones on the market, the technology is better than some other chassis out there.

Id probably follow the route that F1Snake has done with the RA107-05 and get a decent enough engine thats got more than enough power just to scare you shirtless. Dont know if id go for a 1.6L V6 turbo to bring it into line with the 2014 regs.

As for the transmission, id probably go the same route with Hewland. Id probaly see if i could get a new front wing solution and a new rear wing and posibly see if i could get one with DRS on it. Id be looking to try and get a 2009-present style rear wing on it with a 2008 spec front nose-box and wing on it. Id probably invest in a MES ECU and electronics system and posibly follow the steering wheel design that Scarbs had on his blog a while back.

If i had a spare £250k it would be fun project to do. And it would mean that F1Technichal would be turning into a F1 car owners club.

It would also be fun to see how it would fare up against the RA107-05 and the Sauber that the other dude is restoring on a track in a time trial.

There are plenty of good finds out there, if you are prepaired to look and do a bit of research:

If anyone has an extra $220,000 lying around, they could be the proud new owner of a points scoring Benetton driven by Johnny Herbet. It also has a LOT of extra bits and pieces, including some original team clothing.

Or listed as a 1996 B196, but actually a 1998 Benneton B198: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-Ben ... 43ac1c5388

Posibly driven by Alez Wurz as well.

Hi F1 snake,
thanks for the advice, have started a thread now. I have also loaded a few images from Silverstone 2007 which I preasume are of your chassis in the hands of RB? All are taken by myself so hope these are of use? If you wish for high res images please PM me with your e-mail address. I have also added two images of a Honda steering wheel that I think is from an RA107. This was offered to me about two years ago so again I can tell you who sold it if you want to chase it up.

Hi Showcar,

Well done starting your own thread. I'll certainly take a keen interest in that one! I'd love the hi-res pics of the RA107 you have, and I'll send you a PM with my email. Many thanks for offering! Thanks also for the steering wheel photos. Its a very nice piece of memorabilia, but unfortunately we cant use it. We already have a very nice carbon GP2 wheel (DTA) which is programmed to 'speak' to the engine.

For those who's coming to the Autosport show to see the RA107, I have just learned that Racecar Engineering is only there on the trade days, so the car will only be on their stand Thrusday & Friday. For this reason we will now not go on the Sunday, but Friday instead. I hope to meet some of the F1tech forum members there.

After spending a couple of days building the Honda back up again, we got it safely to the NEC yesterday and its now sharing the Racecar Engineering stand with a Lola LMP1 car.

Someone sent me a few pics from today:

I managed to get JB to sit in the car for the show. Had to slip him a fiver, though!

Nadine and myself are going tomorrow (Friday) and will hang around the RE stand (Hall 9, stand E120) around 12-1 pm in case any F1technical forum members would like to meet up.
