Comparison of all 2011 cars

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The zoom must be different or picture taken closer in.
I don't think you can attribute any accuracy in dimension using the slider.
i think you'll find wheel rims are fixed size and the rear wheels match perfectly :P
And the mclaren front wheels appear larger. (on my screen anyway)

Please explain the advertising hoardings changing size?

The cars are not the same distance from the advertising board, but the wheel positions and sizes have been matched up, which is what's important for the comparison.

N00B post guys. Looking at the side comparisons of the RB/MP4-26 the apparent extra wheelbase of the McLaren seems to be supported by the lower driver height - you've got to put him somewhere.

In that side view comparison, the roll hoop camera is lower on the McL, and the RW height is also lower, with the RW leading edge moved forward as well.

I think there are far too many variables such as lenses, zoom, car speed, etc to conclude anything with accurate measurements.

Or perhaps its as simple as if the car has a lower nose, the driver will/can be lower. I don't think Seb's head sticks above the highest part of the RB7 nose more than Button's on the -26.

You see I think this really shows that the amount of flex between these two wings is pretty consistent. The differentiator is the the leading edge of the Red Bull is lower than the McLaren. The following three snapshots show the tow wings have fairly similar flex patterns, it's just the the Red Bull is always lower than the McLarens. Sorry, these are not very well aligned!

actually if you take the rake in account and the nose flex you actually notice that the Red Bull front wing flexes by the same amount as the McLaren

I align the chassis wheels. Red Bull nose is flexible, and front wing lower at the moving.

MP4-26 & RB7 aligned at the back wheel (even the spokes lined up by coincidence!):

Not that I'm complaining, but this is what your comparison link showed me.

Got me there too, but there's an RB7 onboard shot below it. Click that and the RB7 comes up
