Season finale attracts record tv audience

The exciting season finale of the 2008 Formula One season attracted record viewing figures from at least three key markets. It is no surprise that all three television stations who had huge peaks of viewers are all European as the Brazilian GP was broadcasted in 'prime time'.

France's TF1 had more than five million viewers which was good of an audience share of 25 percent. In the closing stages of the race, the amount of viewers got to eight million.

In Germany the Brazilian race represented a market share of 31,5 percent which was good for 8,8 million viewers. After the chequered flag, there was a peak of 9,46 million fans tuning in.

In Great-Britain, nearly nine million with a peak of 13,1 million viewers watched their national hero become World Champion. This was good for a market share of 42 percent which was the best figures recored by ITV since 1997.
