Young driver academy started by Ferrari

An academy to train young drivers has been started by the Scuderia Ferrari, with the main goal to nurture them to be Formula One drivers at some point in their careers. This is a first for the Scuderia, in which they will support the motorsport careers of a selected few young drivers perhaps even starting at the karting stage.

Team Principal Stefano Domenicali explained, "This programme has a very clear goal: to help youngsters develop to the point where, one day, they could fly the Ferrari flag in the Formula 1 World Championship.

"We plan to take an original approach, covering every angle with them, so that they are as well prepared as possible to tackle every aspect of modern day motorsport."

Engineer Luca Baldisserri will be in charge of this project, which will benefit from the contribution of the Italian motorsport body, ACI-CSAI.
