Frome to honour Button with a bridge

Our colleagues of the BBC reported that 2009 World Champion Jenson Button is to have a bridge named after him in his home town Frome. Mayor Damon Hooton said that his city wants to name a bridge after Button as a recongnition of winning the title and that they will make him an honorary citizen of Frome as well.

Mayor Damon Hooton said to 'BBC': "The bridge is going to be built anyway so we decided it would be a good idea to name it after him.

"He will have a presentation scroll to commemorate it and we're going to name the new bridge to be built in Frome after him. We will put a plaque on the bridge with a suitable commemoration on it. We're hoping the bridge will be built between now and the summer."
