Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel received a reprimand for a driving infringement made in the second free practice session of the American GP weekend after committing a breach of the regulation when he entered the pit lane at 15:32 local time.

The German driver was summoned to the stewards after the second practice session as he allegedly did not observe the rules regarding entering the pit lane.

The usual team note which is issued by race director Charlie Whiting before the start of every event warned that “drivers must stay to the left of the bollard at the pit entry” for safety reasons.

The quadruple champion did not stay to the left which was deemed to be dangerous. Vettel and a Ferrari team representative were heard. As they could not prove that it was not Vettel’s mistake, he received a reprimand.

This reprimand was the first one for Vettel this year. As a reminder, drivers receiving three reprimands during a season will automatically receive a ten-place grid penalty at the following event, but only if two or three of them were for driving infringements.
