We expected tougher race - Symonds

The Renault F1 Team's Engineering Chief and Race Strategist, Pat Symonds, said that the team expected a touhger Spanish Grand Prix yesterday. Renault and Fernando Alonso dominated the whole race. Team mate Giancarlo Fisichella managed to finish 3rd.

Pat Symonds: "It was more than we expected, I really thought we'd have a difficult one on our hands and I was perhaps a bit more pessimistic than I've been at other races. It just worked for us. As the temperatures went up the tyres came through for us and we just had the sheer speed today and that's what won it for us. Ferrari's long run performance in practice worried me but it didn't come through today. Barcelona is a very particular circuit and Monaco is quite a difference so lets see what happens."
