Can't afford to lean back - Rampf

Following fifth place in the constructors' championship in 2006, the BMW Sauber F1 Team has exceeded its own goals during the current Formula One season and is now in third place of this year's manufacturers' classification. Willy Rampf, Technical Director of the BMW Sauber F1 Team, is confident the team will be able to defend this position until the end of the year. However, he warns not to rely on the achievements so far.

"Renault collected one point, we collected ten," Rampf said to US American media representatives about the result of the BMW Sauber F1 Team in Hungary. "The gap was pretty big. We are in a comfortable position but that doesn't mean that we can afford to relax. Everything we can learn this year will help us next season."

Next to continuing the development of the F1.07, the BMW Sauber F1 Team, for this reason, is already looking towards the upcoming Formula One season, which will require a further improvement of performance.

"This year we have a continuous development, small steps, because we can't afford to lean back," Rampf comments. "This way a little bit of pressure remains on the team because we go to the races in order to fight for good results and not only pay attention to securing our world championship position."
