Bourdais confident about F1 debut

Sebastien Bourdais, the four times Champ Car Champion, is ready for his first season in Formula One. The successful Frenchman will make his Grand Prix debut with Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2008. Still, Bourdais realises that he will enter a complete different world than Champ Car and that he will have to prove himself all over again.

Sebastien Bourdais said: "I don't know if my accomplishments in Champ Car will help me in Formula One. But it is because of my results in Champ Car that I received the opportunity to return to Europe and to finally enter F1. I will have to prove myself all over again and my biggest challenge will be to become successful in F1."

The Frenchman got his first F1 test with Arrows in 2002. In December of that year, Bourdais also tested for Renault at Jerez but Franck Montagny was the one to land the test drive with the French team. In 2007, Bourdais returned to F1 as he had the opportunity to test for Toro Rosso several times. On August 10, Sebastien was confirmed by the Scuderia as race driver for 2008.

Bourdais will team up with Sebastian Vettel, who is considered to be one of the biggest young talents in the pinnacle of motorsport: "Obviously, he is much younger than me and we have never raced against each other. We haven't met in person yet as I'm too busy in Champ Car."

Although the Frenchman already collected his fourth Champ Car title, the season is not over for Bourdais as there is still a race scheduled at Mexico City in November.
