Success by efficiency - Theissen

In only the second year of its existence, the BMW Sauber F1 Team is already the third power on the Formula One grid. For BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen this is clear proof of the team's efficient approach.

Over the course of its second Formula One season, the BMW Sauber F1 Team scored a total of 101 World Championship points. Furthermore, the drivers, Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica, added points to the team's tally in every single round of the season. "Despite still being in the early stage of our development, we established ourselves as third power on the Formula One grid. That was quite an achievement."

As Theissen sees it, the team's efficiency is the reason for this success. "I regard us as a team that works outstandingly efficiently. The same applied to the Sauber Team. And we succeeded in retaining this efficiency in-spite of having grown significantly," adds the Motorsport Director.

By late 2007, the BMW Sauber F1 Team had completed its set-up phase. Today, some 430 experts are working in Hinwil, along with 300 colleagues in Munich. "Everybody is aboard, the new factory has been completed and all the machines are running," concludes Theissen.
