A victory cannot be 'programmed' - Kubica

Last season, BMW Sauber Formula One Team driver, Robert Kubica, was denied a place on the podium. The Pole reveals why it annoyed him so much, and how delighted he is with his second place in Malaysia.

When Kubica made his debut as a BMW Sauber F1 Team driver, the 23-year-old arrived on the scene with a bang: he finished third in just his third race in Monza. Robert's performances were also impressive throughout the 2007 season, and he just missed out on his second podium finish, claiming fourth on three occasions. However, it was Nick who got to enjoy the champagne shower at the presentation ceremonies in Canada and Hungary.

In Sepang, Robert finally broke the spell. "I'm happy, no doubt - especially because 2007 was the first-ever season without a podium of my entire career," says the man who currently lies fifth overall in the World Championship. "But now I feel that the trend has turned back in the right direction."

The BMW Sauber F1 Team wants to continue in the "right direction" in the remaining 16 races of the season. The goal for the team from Munich and Hinwil is to secure its first victory. Robert confirms: "We have been lurking around the top spot for the past two races now, and this gives us even more motivation to work even harder to close the gap. Then it's also important to remember that a victory cannot be 'programmed' but must be built step by step."
