Performance of top teams is fluctuating - Theissen

Following the German Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team currently has 89 World Championship points to its name, and remains in second in the constructors' classification after the tenth race of the 2008 Formula One season. BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen is expecting an exciting second half of the season.

McLaren left Hockenheim last Sunday with 14 points, and are now just three points behind the team from Munich and Hinwil, while Ferrari continues to lead the championship on 105 points. However, Theissen believes the World Championship standings will change several times before the end of the season. "The performance of the top teams is fluctuating more than we have experienced in recent years. A lot can happen in the second half of the season," says the German.

The BMW Sauber F1 Team is continuing to take it one race at a time. Next up is the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest. The team is preparing for the eleventh race of the year by testing in Jerez de la Frontera. "Different rules apply in Hungary compared to Hockenheim. Mechanical grip is very important there," says Theissen. "It is a very tight, winding track. We must ensure that we prepare properly for this in Jerez, and find the right set-up. It goes without saying that we not only want to be up there at the front when we finish, but we also want to be back at the front for the start."
