its a shame they will not make the cars shorter at least 50cm shorter to start. They are so long.

That would be my first stop with new car regulations. Limit the wheelbase to at least half a metre and may even a full metre shorter.

Might have some translation errors, but essentially the FW regs will be worded similar to the RW regs:
  • 5 wing elements (likely to be worded as 5 closed cross sections with area limits or min/max radii)
  • No stacking of wing elements (prevents cascades)
  • Endplate can't angle more than 15* or the wing elements can't intersect the endplate at angles greater than 15* (wording not clear)

I'll eat my hat if the FW's actually end up looking like that.

That doesn't stop you integrating a tunnel and/or heavily curved elements before they meet the endplate.

I think DRS will be too effective in 2019 regulations. I think they should not have changed the DRS opening from 65 mm to 85 mm because the cars will be able to follow each other more closely than this year. There was no need to increase the drs opening.

No, but the shape might not be ideal. From the photos posted it looks like the wing/endplate/footplate form a c-shaped tunnel with sharp corners. Similar to the simple intersection found in '09 wings, except with the footplate passing under the wing partially: viewtopic.php?p=784244#p784244

To expand upon the wording of the rear-wing regulations, a summary of the relevant section:

3.6.3

a) When viewed from the side of the car, no longitudinal vertical cross section may have more than two sections in this area, each of which must be closed.

b) No part of these longitudinal vertical cross sections in contact with the external air stream may have a local concave radius of curvature smaller than 100mm.

The chord of the rearmost and uppermost closed section must always be smaller than the chord of the lowermost section at the same lateral station. Furthermore, the distance between adjacent sections at any longitudinal vertical plane must lie between 10mm and 15mm at their closest position
This could be applied to the front wing to similar effect. I think this is what has been done.

Problem is those 09 wings don't have the tyre behind causing blockage.

depends on the track, like Hungry there are at least 2 others where it is impossible to pass right now.

They can always shorten the DRS zones if its too powerful

I think you mean the '08 and previous year wings. The '09 wings were very much in front of the tires.

so it looks like mclarens much copied verticle slots on the rear wing will still be legal? i thought that i read somewhere that they would be banned in 2019. the video states that only horizontal slots will be banned.
