Hi everyone, pretty weird to register for a forum to comment on someone leaving but I couldn’t resist.

I’ve been reading the posts on F1Technical since 2009. I just wanted to say I used to be glued to them but nowadays I usually get a few comments in to a particular topic and just give up because it’s just turned in to an argument between 2 or 3 contributors. I don’t actually think this is the fault of the members of the forums or the mods I just think that back when this site started it was just full of debates and revelations about the ingenious, constantly evolving, borderline legal innovations that have in my mind always made F1 such an amazing sport. F ducts, double diffusers, blown diffusers, mclarens October exhaust, passive f ducts, on and on and page after page of revelations, conspiracies and of course intelligent arguments and debates.

Of course the teams are still innovating but within a network of rules so tightly defined that the addition of a flick up on the leading edge of a winglet on the underneath of a turning vane is an earth shattering event :D So all the energy and interest and inquisitiveness of your typical F1 technical member is pent up and thwarted and like some horrible experiment in mind control they turn on each other! I am joking btw :D But I really miss looking on here for the latest spy shots and outlandish theories. Any way that’s all for probably my one and only post. Best wishes to all.

I think he deserves outmost respect because of what he has acomplished so far.
I agree on this- can’t deny the fact that he ánd Mercedes, together, have rewritten the ‘history books’.

Lewis is the GOAT, for sure, but he does NOT walk on water like some here have suggested.

I agree. In the past I have found that interacting with PZ has questioned and so strengthened my own understanding on various topics.

I’ve been here a very long time and, until relatively recently, it used to be exceptional in the way that the more knowledgable would share their understanding with great patience and politeness with anyone who would engage. Sadly this is becoming the exception. That’s not a good thing.
I think tempers are frayed after the past year and a half (I know I've had to self moderate a lot but sometimes fail to do so). There's also a leaning these days towards fanaticism rather than even handed support.
You are not wrong. Over this period I have found that I have had to revisit first drafts a few times before posting because I have failed to be objective and/or polite. Perhaps the next year will be better.

I totally agree with this. I don’t post here basically at all, though I do participate in the Discord server during races and Q sessions (and there are others that do the same). I do however lurk and read most of the posts. There is too much tribalism going on these days. It is unfortunate.

This.
Loved the discussions and posts when Red Bull came with the tunnel-coanda exhaust configuration in Valencia back in 2012, or about the 'aero porn' clip of Mark Webbers Y250 vortex in Brazil...the good old days.

OK, I'll join...

First of all, the mod team and I are working hard on controlling the fan reactions. I hope the way this weekend's race thread went is a sign of that, but only time will tell.

As for PZ, I don't feel I need to comment. If PZ wants to explain why he is leaving, he can, but he wasn't banned. I understand it's his own decision. I'd also say I don't feel like he was "bullied away", as suggested above.
I too feel he wasn’t bullied and in fact, I am glad you say this as I object to that kind of postings. It is just trying to antagonize and kick people who don’t share your particular outlook. I do feel like PZ is a genuine enormous fan (nothing wrong with that, so am I) and I already saw some signs he was really having a hard time with the current events. Hopefully he will recover and imho the battle is far from over. Don’t give up, support your man and keep posting.
I find it very difficult to feel sympathy for a guy whose favourite driver has been dominating the sport for 7 years now. That’s like feeling sympathy for a billionaire who is forced to pay taxes after evading them for years.

This is first time since 2013 where LH is genuinely the underdog, and the response from PZ has been nothing short of laughable. Baseless accusations of conspiracy and sabotage from FIA. Not a hint of credit towards Max who has been driving at an amazing level all season. All that after years of gloating about how others “should just do a better job” when LH and Merc were winning.

PZ is the reason why I have not been that active on this forum. Him, along with a few other LH stans, have controlled the narrative this forum for years now and they make it impossible to have serious and genuine debates.

This thread is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with this form!

Anyone is free to add people to the ignore list, that's how I've dealt with it, and looks like I'll need to add a few more.

3 pages on post where someone is annoucing his retirement on this forum with no reasons written. Heck I didn't get into any interaction with PZ but yeah.. Just log off and that's all. If there is no explanation what is the point of making such a post beside seeking some kind of attention? it's not like suddenly fanboism will disappear. Already some races the race thread becomes cancerous through duration of the race. Hence I'm chatting on discord with some cool people from f1technical. But yeah, you got an attention that's for sure.

Best of luck.

'Just walk away':

& for PZ, from ol' stoney Keith;

'When all is said & done, I gotta move, I've had my fun...'

FWIW I haven't noticed much change in the forum in the last 6 years wrt. the level of technical discussion vs fan fighting.

I do agree with that, I actually do go in to discussion when things like that are posted. Perhaps I should not. But that is why I say, support your man. Not the other stuff.
