Will the fixed weight distribution carry into 2013 ? Or will the teams be free as they were before ?

Yes, it will be still fixed up to 633kg (with 7kg of leeway)

I think he means the weight distribution, not overall weight.

In 2011 they said it would already be lifted in 2011, but yet opted against it. So I'd asume the fixed weight distrivbution will be kept

Yes that's what I said. The first 633kg of weight distribution are fixed. You must have at least 291kg on the front axle, 342kg on the rear axle. That's a total of 633kg. If you want to get to the minimum weight of 640kg, then that leaves just 7kg of leeway. Of course you're free to go past the minimum weight if you're chasing an "ultimate" weight distribution.

Thanks Ray, do the teams have this 7 kg of leeway you speak of this season ? Or will it be new to 2013 ?

Basically like I said, 291 over the front axle, 342 over the rear. That totals 633 of "specified" weight distribution. With a 640kg minimum weight since 2011, that means they can have 7kg to play around with, if they want to make minimum weight. Theoretically they could run whatever weight distribution they want, as long as they are prepared to face the weight penalty.
