Not really that big a deal in the grand scheme of things is it? Its not like its a major component on the car that has a big exploitable loophole.

A likely issue is with the setting of the tool location. It should be a batchrc.bat file probably in c:/Program Files/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.1/etc/batchrc.bat or c:/Program Files/OpenFOAM/etc/batchrc.bat

Let me know how it goes. By the way, I should probably be able to release a SketchUp 2014 version in the near future...

I was a bit out of the forum lately. I have been trying my hand at rendering - getting back into Color For Director business... I am trying to race things to have some renders of all the submitted cars in time... Still some work to do.

For those interested - a rendered CFD result: https://t.co/redirect?url=http%3A%2F%2F ... 0+20140513

That is good news!

Any chance of another drag/DF/lap time chart for the final round?

I think, for the next year, that all track charts should be available before the challange begins.

Hi, I'm looking at the results online report (the GUI is great, and it seems that the loading process is now faster: very good job!).

I noticed that in the "surface pressure map" picture there are some strange points: geometry seems to be badly approximated and there are some low pressure areas that I would expect to find, in particular on the rear wing surfaces. I'm quite sure that this areas partially explain the differences between my CFD model and the official results (10-15% less downforce, similar drag). How can I fix that problem? I found similar problem on the floor surface that is 5mm thick: should I consider to use thicker floor (10-15mm?) and thicker wings?

The problem does not seem to be present in the 2013 results pictures: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-4fOa ... 180mph.png

Has someone noticed the same iusse looking at 2014 results?

has this been a common problem all the way through or just this race?

I'm not getting the same problem as you, have you tried reloading? I just say because your geometry looks distorted where i've just loaded yours up and its smooth as. The pressure map isn't all over, its blotchy, but correct in what it shows

I think if you do a cut in the flow direction you'll see the correct pressures anyway.

Matteo, Thanks a lot for the feedback on the GUI. The pressure map used in the online GUI uses a remap of the "real" geometry to decrease the mesh count. This would typically create issues similar to the one that you are reporting. I would recommend checking the downloadable results for the pressure map.

I just prepared renders of all designs (note that these are based on the initial submission and may include some compliance issues). You can see them in either video at http://youtu.be/tL1Lv5HOfSw or in the gallery at http://www.khamsinvirtualracecarchallen ... 14/gallery.

Ok, thanks

The renderings are great, but my car has still mounted the illegal nose :)

yes thats the only thing, they are based on submission 1 due to the time frame.

submission 2 cars are only checked Wednesday onwards and we want to release these the friday before.

Any update on the laptime chart? Without it wing levels etc are pretty much a shot in the dark.

Thank you very much for your response, Julien.

This build of OpenFoam has three .bat files directly under the directory C:/Program Files/OpenFOAM/. They are:

DOS_Mode.bat, gompi.bat and setvars.bat.

I have tried with all three of them, but none of them seem to work with Khamsin. There are no .bat files under the etc directory in this build.

Khamsin is an awesome and really useful tool. A a new Khamsin update that supports Sketchup 2014 would be fantastic! :o Thanks! :)

In case it helps, this is the content of the original bat files (I tried some changes but none of them worked):
