Don't worry. It's not that hard in regular testing weekend. It's now 7 degree C in Jerez. It's pretty cool.

Lotus have roll hoop set up for DRD but there's no such device on E21 for now.

Absolutely nothing since he's most likely not going anywhere near fullspeed.

Hmm... I suppose we'll only find out in longer race simulation runs anyway... But I hope that atleast thats one thing they managed to solve.

Tell us that they are trying to push/test the boundaries of degradation

Just to mention 1:18.419 was the fastest lap time at Jerez set by 2012 car last year and it was Romain Grosjean.

Hmm... that's two seconds faster than the current best. I guess we aren't even close to seeing what the cars can really do, yet.

And they're on intermediates.
Do you feel you can beat the Red Bulls, either to pole position or the race itself?
Fernando Alonso: "I prefer to beat them on Sunday."

Timing is pretty irrelevant at this stage, I think nobody will really push today. Just routine checks to see if everyting works as it should and the car is staying in one piece.

Rosberg's Merc has stopped on track. CCTV shows a bit of smoke but impossible to see what the problem is.

Someone is "fired up" about the start of the new season. Literally :)

Red flag.

We all know that nothing will be decided, confirmed and very little even understood (by us) from these tests.

We can pick up on reliability issues, see how the cars appear to be handling from any fan videos, but the actually times will be largely irrelevant. Remember Alonso being fastest in the Ferrari one day in Jerez last year? It wasn't because the car was fast...

Anyway, purely aesthetically, when you look at the Ferrari next to the Red Bull, there's little doubt in my mind that the modesty panel creates a nicer looking car. That's the only conclusion I'm making though.

With all the development gone into the cars last year and considering this year's cars as evolution, I guess it is fair to expect that the ideal fastest lap time should be atleast 1.5 seconds lesser than last year's Jerez test.

I still have no problems with ducky looking nosecones/front wings. Maybe because "my" E20 was nicer looking in that section compared to the others.

Actually people on this forum were able to pretty accurately predict that Mercedes had massive tyre degradation from the test timings in 2012.

Respect, but you don't have to be clairvoyant to be able to predict Mercedes' tyre treatment. They had simmilar problems in 2011 and even in 2010.

The longer distance between rear and front wheels is expected to cure these problems.
