I think you'll find that most of the drivers on the grid can't take any significant sponsorship of their own outside of the team. They're often signed as drivers to bring sponsors on-board but generally what they endorse in ads etc is via the team and that's where the sponsorship money goes. Their own sponsors would be generally be minor ones comparatively.

I recall M Schumacher being a rare case where he negotiated (after many years at the team) being able to wear a German company (a bank?) on his hat in press conferences outside of his Ferrari deal.

That might be changing, Hamilton has a huge(100 Million or more) personal sponsorship contract with Reebok.

Oh, for sure. As I said, some drivers - once they have clout - can negotiate something with the team. Although their options would be limited to ones which don't conflict in any way with team sponsors and it would cost them some of their salary demands without doubt.

Adrian Sutil is working with TechArt, a company which specializes in aftermarket Porsche products and services.

He's on their website and in magazine advertising.

So they were on a per race basis? Or just payed for where they finished? Surely not paid at all....

Don't know about the rest but Sutil pays for his seat..That's the old Jordan way and old habits die hard

they'll be supported by the sponsors they bring in, and/or on a 'per point' bonus contract (in which case Kazuki & Romain didn't get a dime!)
