How many more points will Hamilton score compared to Button in 2010?

The groupings are listed, obviously they have tolerance bands...

I personally think Hamilton will slap him silly.

hmm.. difficult to say, so much depends on the Car. If they have the best car they'll probably end up doing 1-2s all the time, but I expect Hamilton to consistently qualify better, but we'll see how the races play out. Next year should tell if Hamilton is the tire burner he is made out to be and if Jenson is Mr Smooth. Very interesting!

Edit: Hamilton 1.25:1 got my vote. The worse the car, the bigger the marginal I think.

I sense 2000 Ferrari Team all over again.

And Jenson is Rubens..

I think that Hamilton will convincingly beat Button but I don't think the points difference will be huge, given that a decent driver will still score ok in a good car and next year I think there will be more of a gap between the Red Bull, Mclaren, Ferrari and the mystery car of the year (the one that always takes us by suprise when winter testing starts) to the rest of them. So I think he will get points from 2-3 places below him giving him a decent points haul next year even if he is a country mile behind Hamilton.

See Coultard and Hakkinen in 1999 and 2000 for a decent second driver picking up points.

1999 Coultard had 63% of the points

2000 Coultard had 82% of the points

and he was very much a second driver!

I don't think Button was over-rated, at worst McLaren have made sure he isn't in another fast car taking points off them ;)

On the face of it Lewis will show him the way home....he's faster and more aggressive.

Button fan - glass half full time; with the new regulations and potentially fragile tyres there is every chance that Jenson will qualify close to Lewis and out perfrom him in the race. Also, Lewis has shown that he still has a brain-fade problem - admittedly he has looked more mature this year, but possibly because he wasn't pressured by his team-mate and whatever he did with that car at first made him look good.

Lewis fan - Give Lewis half a sniff of a victory and he goes to a whole different level, he is very hard to handle.

Overall I think it will depend on Lewis's ability to get the best from the car over the whole race distance, perhaps his present acrobatic style won't serve him too well next year.

I'm sort of playing Devils Advocate here - personally I think that Lewis is the quicker of the two

besides, the big ? is how 2010 will look like, not that much what is going in the British camp. It looks likely that 4 teams (at least) will have fast cars and fast drivers and I am much more interested in how S2010 will go.

So it's not even an option that Button outscores Hamilton?

That would tickle me pink.

Really anything's possible. Lewis definitely does abuse the tires, or at least really push them hard.

If the car is dominant, they could all be 1-2 and the points would be close.

If the car is ---, maybe neither of them score hardly any points.

What a pointless, Hamilton stroking thread.

I believe this website has a membership composed of people with at least reasonably high intellect, so I wouldn't insult them with a non-sensical option.

You might want to check my post history with regard Hamilton.

My favourite driver... he is definitely not.

Although I have grudgingly been very impressed with him in 2009, much more so than in 2008.

Regardless, the vote is presented in a way only Mugabe would find fair. Why bother with a vote when there are only one set of options?

It is a pointless, Hamilton fan stroking thread.

I think Button will score one more point than Lewis next year. I could be wrong, but that is why this is a pointless thread.

You can tell it's pointless, as it has no point. it's just a place for Hamilton fans to FAP FAP FAP together.
