well maybe the W stands for Wilson....?

Looks like a very logical development of last years car.
nose is higher but retains the downward droop to speed up air flow coming off the front wing neutral area.
Sidepods look nice and compact if you look at ho much of the floor is exposed.

Theres lots still to be revealed i guess..

that front wing aint staying for 2010 that'll be for sure.

radiator inlets are simelar to fif1 last year, wonder why they got bigger.

Looks like a return of the single keel.
Odd to see larger sidepod intakes than last year.

That is one mean looking car. This has to be a return to single keel, even though it has the v-nose..

Didn't they have problems with cooling the engine in the hotter races last year? Might explain the larger sidepods.

Ah the most reb bull like front end of the lot thus far.

not the central bulb where the lower wishbones meet at the bottom of the "V".

excellent, they've maintained good front suspension geometry and aerodynamically they appear to have opted for a similar solution to Newey.

car looks lithe, athletic and not chunky like the red's.

Now we have to wait a week for RB6.

i can only assume that it will be a development of RB5 and not a radical departure.

To me (who doesnt really have much of a clue) it would seem the only real area of work is around the airbox.

Is there some sort of cover missing at the back?

Its like the engine cover has a part missing.

Look at the sculpting of that engine cover! It looks like the top air-intake could break off. I do hate that brushed aluminium look though - together with the seemingly arbitrary black and green airbrush, it looks so "work in progress"-like.

Complete guess, but running an engine lean can also make it run hotter (less fuel into the cylinders will provide less cooling). Might be the same reason for all the extra innovative cooling on the McLaren.

Looks at home in Parc fermé already. How long until a news report comes out that McLaren is considering a new "B" Spec of the Mp4-25 before the season?

larger side pods could be a result of higher bypass and not additional cooling. They could be exiting the bypass air somewhere near the diffusor. will need more photo's to have a more informed opinion.

I.E. get more air flowing through the bodywork, rather than around because you can control it more effectively through the bodywork.
This also pulls more laminar flow from "outside" reducing drag.

detail around the air box is pretty radical; never seen such a narrow air box ever.

Possibly for added cooling of fuel tank..? :-k

Tall sidepods follow MP4-24 McLaren's & R30 Renault's philosophies.

Front Merc badge couldn't get much bigger could it?!
Mirrors, Wings Fr & Rr are 09-spec. Even the front wing pillars don't match.. looks like a Sauber-style update is planned.

Airbox design looks to be planned to work more specifically with the drivers' helmets in place..

:wtf: Wait.. where'd the original Mercedes MGP W01 thread go..?
