Ferrari F10

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I heard today the Ferrari engine\gearbox combo has its oil tank in the conventional position, not in between the pair

Lower sidepod vent was closed off today, due to cold temperatures I presume.

Provides more energetic flow above the main diffuser.

Anyone understand what is going on with the side-pods just infront of the rear wheels? They look like they end abruptly... or is this just a different coloured body panel? The view from above looks similar....

.... but the 75mm Radius rule applies right back to 50mm in front of the rear wheel centre line so that can't be..... ????

James Allen has posted this on his website:
There have been rumours about the aero figures being poor and a B spec car being prepared. But my sources suggest that what has happened is that they recruited a new head of aerodynamics from Toyota in December and he brought a solution for a radical new diffuser with a hole the size of a sheet of A3 paper! It’s worth a lot in extra downforce and so Ferrari may well be building an update package around it, possibly for the first race if they can build it in time.
No smoke without fire...

I guess we will be expecting that diffuser as much as the nose hole of the F2008 or the W wing from Renault.
